CRADLE OF FORESTRYThe Cradle of Forestry, open to visitors everyday from mid-April to early November, provides an opportunity to "explore the past, present, and future of environmental sustainability and stewardship through paved interpretive trails, interactive exhibits, film, music, drama, guided tours, nature programs, craft demonstrations, and special events." A sustainably designed Forest Discovery Center with its gift shop and café welcomes visitors to the historical structures and a relaxing walk through the woods. Located just 20 minutes (8.5 miles) from White Pine Cabin.

WHEELS THROUGH TIME MUSEUMWheels Through Time Museum "will sweep you back in time with its magnificent presentation of vintage all-American motorcycles and automobiles" with the world's premier collection of rare American motorcycles, memorabilia, and a distinct array of unique "one-off" American automobiles. Tube World, located in Maggie Valley across from Ghost Town in the Sky, is a great place to snow tube in the winter! Groomed slopes are made for riding specially designed inner tubes. You’ll ride our moving carpet lift to the top of the hill, then tube your way down the snow-covered run. Sessions are one hour and 45 minutes long and run every two hours. There is a 42″ minimum height requirement. Only Tube World equipment may be used and reservations are recommended.

LOOKING GLASS FALLSLooking Glass Falls is a popular 60-ft tall roadside waterfall in Pisgah National Forest located on Hwy 276 less than 30 minutes (about 13 miles) from White Pine Cabin. You can enjoy the view from the parking area along the road or take steps down to get a closer look. The best time of day to take photos is in the afternoon or on a cloudy day. The name "Looking Glass" comes from Looking Glass Rock, where water freezes on its sides in the winter and then glistens in the sunlight like a mirror or looking glass. No admission and always open.
